Everywhere you look, it seems that someone is trying to tell you how to pursue financial security.
Books, newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, the Internet – there’s no shortage of information on ways you can change your money behaviors and improve your finances. And yet despite this wealth of fiscal advice, American families continue to struggle. The truth is information alone isn’t enough to ensure financial security. Americans also need professional advice coupled with equally-professional implementation.
At First Command Financial Services, Inc., we’ve long understood the role that personalized financial assistance can play in changing lives for the better. Since our founding more than a half century ago, we have been committed to helping Americans like you embrace the regular and meaningful pursuit of your long-term goals and life-time dreams. Today we reaffirm that historic commitment with a new mission statement:
Coaching those who serve in their pursuit of financial security
We have made “coaching” the first word of our mission statement because we are the only company with a coaching focus in our core market – and the people to truly deliver it. Through our Financial Advisors, we deliver holistic financial planning services tailored to your personal goals and dreams. Coaching involves being a fiduciary – putting your interests above all else – as we provide a broad range of financial planning and services to encourage the types of behaviors that can help you pursue financial security and success. Our clients expect and deserve this type of one-stop approach for all of their financial needs.
Our goal is to provide coaching that evolves and grows to address the many challenges and opportunities that arise during your lifetime financial journey. Buying a home, saving for college, raising a family, building a career, preparing for retirement – we are committed to coaching you through all of the stages of your life.
With our new mission statement we are also reaffirming our original purpose: to serve the men and women of the military. Established in 1958 with a mission to improve the financial well-being of America’s professional military families, First Command remains committed to those of you who belong to the uniformed services. The military is still our core market; however, it’s not our only market. Today we serve those who serve in many walks of life. We are currently expanding into the federal employee market, which we have identified as a promising area for future growth. And we are helping this larger and more diverse section of middle-income Americans pursue their financial goals and dreams by using the same financial planning concepts and processes that we developed and refined over the past 50-plus years.
We know that your motivation, commitment and confidence are greatest when your financial plan is aligned with your values — what’s important to you. Working with you, we develop financial plans that address your personal values, priorities and goals. And we are committed to delivering these personalized plans through a personal relationship with a Financial Advisor. Using the plan as a guide, your Advisor coaches you in pursuit of your long-term goals — like funding a child’s education, building up resources for retirement, or providing for your loved ones’ financial security.
Financial security is the goal toward which we coach our clients. In our view, the single greatest problem facing American wage earners and their families is that they do not save, invest or prepare for financial security in any regular or meaningful way. That means our job is to help you be prepared for financial risks (early death, outliving resources, disability, etc.) while pursuing your own definition of financial success.
What we do is not about us. Consistent with the fiduciary standard we embrace, our calling is to help you get what you want, financially, out of life. Our mission is serving you.
First Command is committed to helping you plan confidently to pursue your financial goals and dreams. If it’s been a while since your last review, give your Financial Advisor a call.
